Introduction

settled. ("the app," "we," "us") is a personal finance app for tracking loans, IOUs, shared receipts, and recurring payments between you and other people. This policy explains what data the app handles and how.

The Short Version

settled. has no backend server, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party data sharing. Everything you enter stays in Apple's ecosystem: on your device and, if you have iCloud enabled, synced privately between your own devices through your personal iCloud account. We (the developer) never receive, see, or have access to your data.

Information the App Stores

To provide its features, settled. stores the following on your device:

• Your profile: the name and (optional) nickname you enter during setup.
• People and groups: names, nicknames, and notes for people you add, and any groups you organize them into.
• Loans and payments: amounts, due dates, payment history, and notes for loans and IOUs between you and the people you add.
• Receipts: scanned or manually entered line items, prices, charges (tax, tip, fees), discounts, and how they're split among people.
• Recurring payments: subscriptions, bills, or installments you choose to track, including their schedule and payment history.
• Photos: images you attach as proof or receipts for a loan, payment, or recurring payment (e.g. a photo of a receipt, or a share-breakdown image you choose to save to your Photos library).
• Preferences: your selected currency code and notification settings.

None of this requires an account, sign-up, phone number, or email address. The app does not collect your name, contacts, or any information beyond what you type in or photograph yourself.

iCloud Sync

If you're signed into iCloud on your device, settled. automatically syncs your data (people, loans, receipts, payments, photos, and preferences) to your private CloudKit database and your iCloud key-value store, both scoped to your personal Apple ID. This lets your data appear across your own devices. This sync:

• Uses Apple's iCloud infrastructure, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
• Is private to your Apple ID. We (the developer) have no access to it, cannot see it, and cannot retrieve it on your behalf.
• Can be disabled entirely by turning off iCloud for the app in your device's Settings, or by not signing into iCloud at all. The app works fully offline without iCloud.

Camera and Photos Access

• Camera: used only to take a photo of a receipt so its items can be scanned. The photo is processed as described below and is never uploaded anywhere.
• Photos (add-only): used only when you choose to save a receipt's share-breakdown image to your Photos library. The app cannot read your existing photo library. It can only add images you explicitly choose to save. You may also pick an existing photo from your library to attach as a receipt or proof of payment.

Receipt Scanning (On-Device Only)

When you scan a receipt, the app uses Apple's on-device Vision framework to read the text off the photo, then Apple's on-device Apple Intelligence (Foundation Models) to turn that text into structured line items. This entire process runs locally on your device. The photo and its text are never sent to us, to Apple's servers, or to any third party. If Apple Intelligence isn't available on your device, you can always enter items manually.

Notifications

settled. can send you local reminders about upcoming or overdue loans and recurring payments. These reminders are scheduled entirely on your device using Apple's notification framework. No push notification server is involved, and no reminder content ever leaves your device. You can turn reminders off at any time in the app's Settings or in iOS Settings.

Sending Reminder Texts

If you choose to text someone a reminder from within the app, settled. opens Apple's standard Messages compose screen, pre-filled with a message you can review. The app does not store the recipient's phone number, and the message is only sent if and when you tap Send yourself. Apple's Messages app handles delivery, not us.

What We Don't Do

• No analytics or usage tracking of any kind.
• No advertising or ad networks.
• No third-party SDKs that collect data.
• No account creation, login, or user identifiers tied to you.
• No location data.
• No access to your contacts.
• No server of ours ever receives your data. There is no backend for this app to talk to.

Data Deletion

You can permanently delete all data at any time from Settings → "delete all data." This removes every person, loan, receipt, payment, and recurring payment from your device and, if iCloud sync is on, from your private iCloud database, and cancels all pending reminders. This action cannot be undone.

Because your data is stored in your own private iCloud account (not on our servers), you can also manage or delete it directly through your iCloud account settings, or by deleting the app, which removes its local data from your device.

Children's Privacy

settled. is a general-purpose finance tracking tool not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from children. Since the app collects no data beyond what a user manually enters, and has no accounts or means of identifying a user's age, no age-related data is gathered.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes. For example, if a future version of the app adds a new feature that handles data differently. We'll update this document and revise the "Last updated" date above.

Introduction

Nook ("the App," "we," "us") is a home inventory app that helps you track the rooms, containers, and items in your space, and generate QR codes so you can quickly find where things are stored.

This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles, how it is stored, and the choices you have. The short version: Nook is designed to work entirely on your device. It does not require an account, and it does not send your inventory data to us or to any third party.

Information We Collect

Nook does not ask you to create an account and does not collect your email address, phone number, or any government ID.

The only information the App handles is what you choose to type in while using it:

• Profile name: a display name (up to 10 characters) you enter in Settings so the App can greet you. It is not verified and does not need to be your real name.
• Inventory data: the rooms, containers (and subcontainers), items, and tags you create, including item names, quantities, descriptions, expiration dates, container types, and the color/name you give a tag.
• QR codes: codes generated from a container's internal ID so you can scan it later to find that container. The codes don't encode any personal information beyond the container name/ID you gave it.

Nook does not collect photos, precise location, contacts, health data, browsing history, or any device identifiers for tracking purposes.

How We Store Your Data

All of your inventory data is stored locally on your device, using Apple's SwiftData framework. There is no backend server operated by us, no cloud database, and no iCloud sync built into the App.

As a result:

• Your data never leaves your device through the App.
• We cannot see, access, back up, or recover your data. We simply don't have it.
• If you delete the App or reset your device, your inventory data is permanently erased along with it (unless you've included the App in your own iCloud/iTunes device backup, which is managed by Apple, not by us).

Because nothing is transmitted, Nook does not use encryption-in-transit for your inventory data. There is no transit. Data at rest is protected by the same device-level security (passcode, encryption) that protects the rest of your iPhone or iPad.

Camera and Photo Library Permissions

Nook requests two device permissions, each for a single, narrow purpose:

You can grant, deny, or revoke either permission at any time in iOS Settings > Nook. Denying Camera access simply disables the QR-scanning tab; the rest of the App works normally.

Data Sharing and Third Parties

Nook does not include analytics SDKs, advertising networks, crash-reporting services, or any other third-party tracking tools. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with anyone, because your data is never transmitted to us in the first place.

Nook does not use cookies, web beacons, or similar tracking technologies.

Children's Privacy

Nook does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the App does not collect any data beyond what is stored locally on the user's own device, and does not create accounts or transmit data anywhere, there is no mechanism by which a child's information could be collected, shared, or exposed to us or to third parties.

Data Retention and Deletion

Your inventory data (rooms, containers, items, tags, and profile name) stays on your device for as long as you keep the App installed, or until you delete it yourself.

You can erase your data at any time:

• Delete individual items. Remove specific rooms, containers, items, or tags from within the App.
• Reset everything. In Settings, the "Log Out" option under Danger Zone permanently deletes all rooms, containers, items, tags, and your profile from the device.
• Uninstall the App. Removing Nook from your device deletes its local database entirely, unless a copy exists in a device backup you control (e.g., through Apple's iCloud/iTunes backup, which is subject to Apple's own policies, not ours).

Your Choices and Control

Because all data lives on your device, you are always in control of it:

• Edit or delete any room, container, item, or tag at any time from within the App.
• Change or clear your profile name in Settings.
• Grant or revoke Camera and Photos access at any time in iOS Settings > Nook.
• Export a container's QR code to your Photos app, or choose not to.

Since Nook has no servers and no account system, there is no "request my data" or "delete my account" process to go through with us. The controls in the App itself, and standard iOS uninstall/reset, are how you manage and remove your data.

Changes to This Policy

If we ever change what Nook collects or how it handles data. For example, if we add optional cloud sync in the future. We will update this policy and change the effective date at the top. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy. We encourage you to review this page occasionally.
